The Limeliters

Location:

DesertView Performing Arts Center

About:

The Limeliters were formed in 1959 by Glenn Yarbrough, Alex Hassilev, and Lout Gottlieb. They were a dominant voice in the early 1960s folk music scene. They were the musical representatives for Coca-Cola, and their rendition of the jingle "Things Go Better with Coke" was a national hit. Today, after 6 decades in the music business, The Limeliters are still one of the most exciting and entertaining vocal acts touring the country. With newest members, Andy Corwin, C. Daniel Boling and Steve Brooks, The Limeliters are poised to "pass the music on" to new audiences, young and old. C. Daniel Boling...Balladeer/songwriter is a past winner of the prestigious Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Songwriter contest and other sonwriting honors including the Woody Guthrie Folk Festiva. Faniel grew up on traditional folk music and the folk songs of the 60s. He is a Berkalin Records recording artist and has released eight solo albums since 1999. Steve Brooks...A classic Texas troubadour who mixes storytelling, humor, heartbreak and cracker-barrel philosophy, his songs have been recorded by more than a dozen Americana artists like Slaid Cleaves, Christine Albert, and Russell Crowe. Cross two famous guys named Brooks - Garth and Mel - and you get Austin singer-songwriter. Andy Corwin...At this point, Andy is the vetera of the group - and the only member to have performed with original Limeliters Alex Hassilev and Glenn Yarbrough. Back in the 90s he was the long haired, scraggly bass player of "The Foremen". Andy was a winner of the 2005 New Folk Songwriting Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival. He is also an accomplished documentary filmmaker and television editor, whose work has appeared on NBC, PBS, History Channel, NatGeo, Animal Planet, Discovery, HGTV and The Food Network... to name but a few. In the ensuing years, the lineup of the group has featured several talented new members, but The Limeliters have never deviated from the integrity of the fabulous sound that they pioneered. With their energy and enthusiasm undiminished, current members remain as exciting an act as the genre has produced. Now more than ever, the surging vocals, thrilling harmony, and quirky sense of humor of this unique trio continue to earn them their title as..."The Fabulous Limeliter".
