THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS returns to Saddlebrooke this December for three performances! Last year’s entertaining shows were all sell-outs, so be sure to get your tickets early!
The Spirit of Christmas is produced by Tucson Dance Academy, a nationally recognized studio right here in Tucson. “TDA” is directed by Tammy Manville-Booth, a world-class gymnast and Olympian (ranked #1 in the United States and #7 in the world) and an accomplished dancer, performer and choreographer. She previously lived in Los Angeles, pursuing her dance career and appearing in several movies as well as performing all over the U.S and Europe. She then moved to Arizona to teach and choreograph, where she met her husband, artist/composer Tom Booth.
The Spirit of Christmas began in Chandler, AZ when Tammy and Tom, along with Tempe Dance Academy director Wanda Manville, debuted the show in 1989. The show eventually grew to two weekend performances at the Chandler Center for the Arts. In 2007, Tom and Tammy moved home to Tucson. They founded the Tucson Dance Academy in 2008. The "Tucson edition" of The Spirit of Christmas found a new home here in the “Old Pueblo” beginning in 2009.
The show is part "NYC Broadway Show” (including the "Tucson Rockettes", Santa and His Reindeer and more) and part spiritual depth (with the miracle birth of Christmas). Add in some LIVE music, wondrous costumes and two vibrant holiday set changes, and you have a show that some say they would need to travel to the big city to experience. Tucson Dance Academy and DesertView Performing Arts Center work together to offer this wonderful holiday show that has become a staple holiday experience for many. Come experience the wonder of The Spirit of Christmas!
